Trip Highlights

EXPLORING HISTORIC BOSTON

Explore Boston where the new and the old are in constant conversation, where cobbled-stone streets meet glass-enclosed shopping galleries, where The Freedom Trail landmarks stand beside cutting edge restaurants and where renowned performance theatres brush shoulders. Uncover Boston’s past while enjoying its distinctively modern edge, enjoy the old masters and the brew masters,  pedal-powered swan boat rides or high-speed catamaran whale watchers. Shop artisanal markets or chic boutiques. While the afternoon away at a sidewalk cafe’s or dine from the popular food trucks found throughout the city. Take a walking tour or blaze a trail of your own. Stroll the lively waterfront or cruise the historic harbor.

FREEDOM TRAIL TOUR

Boston’s official Freedom Trail tour is the most popular, introductory, tours highlight the diverse history that took place at 11 of the 16 official Freedom Trail historic sites, featuring Boston Common, Massachusetts State House, Park Street Church, Granary Burying Ground, King’s Chapel & King’s Chapel Burying Ground, Boston Latin School site/Benjamin Franklin statue, Old Corner Bookstore, Old South Meeting House, Old State House, Boston Massacre site, and Faneuil Hall.  Experience stories of the American Revolution, as well as the history of traditionally underrepresented peoples spanning from the 16th – 21st centuries.

ISABELLA STEWART GARDNER MUSEUM

Gardner chose to site her Museum on the edge of the newly built Back Bay Fens, a part of Frederick Law Olmsted’s Emerald Necklace, because she saw the potential for this new landscape to enable, inform, and enhance the city of Boston. Today the Museum continues to recognize the importance of landscape architecture through its landscape exhibitions. Gardens, both interior and exterior, are an integral part of the Gardner Museum experience today. When Isabella built the Museum, she created an experience that was as much about flowers and plants, artfully arranged, as it was about masterpieces of art. The culmination of that vision is the Courtyard but botanical images can be found throughout the Museum. Visitors are greeted by a magnificent display of flowers and plants in the Dorothy McGee Greenhouse, seen from the Museum’s entrance. While some of these flowers will be rotated into the Courtyard, others, like the night-blooming cereus cactus, are examples of plants that Gardner grew in her greenhouses. Visitors are welcome to stroll through the greenhouse to get a closer look at the plants, smell fragrant specimens and watch horticulturists at work or ask them questions.

BOSTON TEA PARTY SHIPS & MUSEUM

Located on the Congress Street Bridge, the Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum is an interactive, high tech, floating museum. Unlike anything you’ve ever experienced before, this unique museum sits on a barge in the water, includes tours on restored tea ships and a stunning, interactive documentary that immerses you into the events that led up to the American Revolution. Touch, feel, see and hear what the patriots felt when their passions and angers flared at the injustice of taxation without representation. Participate in multi-sensory exhibits, witness dramatic reenactments by professional actors and historians and discover the true story behind the Boston Tea Party.

FANEUIL HALL MARKETPLACE & QUINCY MARKET

Located in the heart of downtown Boston, Faneuil Hall Marketplace is adjacent to historic Faneuil Hall and is bordered by the financial district, the waterfront, the North End, Government Center and Haymarket. It is a well-traveled part of Boston’s “Freedom Trail.”  Boston shopping at its best with more than 100 of the finest shops and specialty pushcarts. Locally-owned treasures, nationally recognized retailers, and the “Bullmarket”…the world’s first “fleet” of wholly unique pushcarts featuring New England artisans and their fabulous wares.  Eat, drink, and be captivated at twelve restaurants and pubs including one of Faneuil Hall’s original merchants – The Salty Dog. Dine beneath beautiful glass canopies or at one of our many outdoor cafes. In addition, you’ll find thirty international food merchants inside the Quincy Market Food Colonnade – the largest food hall in New England.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if I cannot find an arrival flight before designated arrival window?

Our trips are typically only 4-6 days in length so we really try to make the most out of our time together. The first night we host a special Welcome Dinner where you really kick off the fun and start to get acquainted. However, we understand that it is not always possible to find a flight that works. There are a few options:

1. Let our team know ASAP and if it’s possible we can accommodate for it. In some situations there is a hotel shuttle or taxi that can be taken. However, some airports are too far from our destination for shuttle or taxi services, so it is important that you let our team know ASAP.
2. Arrive a day early

  • You will be responsible for your own transportation and hotel arrangements during that time
  • Please let our team know if you would like to stay at the same hotel and we can help arrange it

What if I can not find a departure flight before designated departure window?

Our trips are typically only 4-6 days in length so we really try to make the most out of our time together. We have scheduled tours or meals the day of departure so it is possible that if you have a flight earlier than designated departure time that you will miss part of the tour. We would recommended tying to stay an extra night. Please note that you are responsible for all ground transportation for your departure if your departure is outside of designated window.
