The Outer Banks are barrier islands off the coast of the U.S. state of North Carolina, separating the Atlantic Ocean from the mainland. Their open-sea beaches, state parks and shipwreck diving sites make them a popular holiday destination. Roanoke Island was the site of England’s first settlement in the New World, an endeavor sponsored by Sir Walter Raleigh. 

For more than two centuries, lighthouses have guarded the Outer Banks coast and always guided the way. Generations of seaborne travelers and mariners have sought the comfort of these beacons’ reassuring light as they navigated the perilous channels and shoals that mark the Graveyard of the Atlantic. Perhaps that is why these sentinels, among the tallest in America, have come to serve as beacons of hope and inspiration.

The Outer Banks of North Carolina offers a welcome relief from crowded cities and overrun vacation spots. In fact, you won’t find any cities on the Outer Banks, just 100+ miles of wide-open shoreline, charming seaside villages and a mix of towns brimming with personality and fascinating connections to our nation’s history. Although we’re just a drive away, these barrier islands feel remote. Day One: Monday, September 9, 2024 – Arrival Day

Arrivals should be by 2:00 pm at Norfolk VA International Airport (ORF). We will pick you up and will head to the Oasis Suites Hotel in Nags Head in the fabulous Outer Banks area (a 2-hr trip from the airport) to get settled before we have a fabulous Welcome Happy Hour with wine and appetizers before we head to our Welcome Dinner so we can get to know the each other better!

Day Two: Lighthouses, Small Towns & Sunset Cruise with Playful Dolphins

Breakfast will be at the hotel and then we will head out to do some discovering in the Outer Banks, NC area!

We will begin the morning with a tour of the beautiful Elizabethan Botantical Gardens – you will be amazed at the beauty there!

The journey continues in the charming town of Manteo, a hidden gem where quaint shops and boutiques line the streets, offering unique souvenirs that capture the essence of coastal life.  You will also see a spectacular lighthouse in Manteo, which will offering a unique glimpse into history of the Outer Banks!

As the day winds down, join us for a spectacular sunset cruise. Glide across the tranquil waters as the sky transitions into a vibrant canvas, and keep your camera ready for the playful dolphins that often accompany our journey. The day concludes with a group dinner, where delightful cuisine and shared stories under the stars make for the perfect ending to a day full of exploration and discovery in the Outer Banks.

Day Three: Wednesday, September 11, 2024

Breakfast will be at the hotel and then we will head out for the day and will stop at Duck Donuts!  Then, we will head to the Wright Brother’s Museum. Then, we will go and see Bodie Island Lighthouse and the Rodanthe House from the movie, Nights in Rodanthe that was filmed in the Outer Banks!

• Delicious Start to the Day: Breakfast at the hotel, followed by a delightful treat from Duck Donuts – where every donut is a masterpiece of flavor!
• Historic Exploration: Step back in time with a tour of the Wright Brothers Museum, a journey through the birthplace of aviation and a tribute to the pioneers of flight.
• Iconic Landmark Visit: Marvel at the majestic Bodie Island Lighthouse, an iconic beacon that offers picturesque views and a slice of coastal history.
• Movie Magic Moment: Relive the romance of “Nights in Rodanthe” with a stop at the famed Rodanthe House, a perfect photo opportunity for movie enthusiasts.

Day Four: Thursday, September 12, 2024

We will visit the Currituck Beach Lighthouse & History Park. In the afternoon, feel the ocean breeze and taste the salty beach air as you cruise the Outer Banks beaches in open-air Hummers with one of Outer Bank’s seasoned guides in search of the Colonial Spanish Mustangs! View the horses in their natural environment as we venture into three distinct ecosystems teeming with wildlife accessible only by off-road vehicles.

And to manage the behind-the-scenes magic so your experience is one-of-a-kind. They are not local experts nor are they tour guides. We hire local experts, guides, and historians as each location warrants. They are expert hosts and manage the camaraderie and logistics of the experience. Our goal is that your hostess will make you feel welcomed, comfortable, and that you will walk away with new & lasting friendships made during an unforgettable experience.
