Overall Trip Highlights in D.C
- Independence Day with women who love this country — Spend the Fourth of July in the nation’s capital among like-minded women who feel about America the way you do. No explaining yourself, no watching what you say — just shared pride, easy conversation, and the quiet relief of being among your own on the country’s birthday.
- A parade, and the whole city celebrating — The National Independence Day Parade coming up the avenue, with your group right in the middle of it: military bands, color guards, and the kind of flag-waving that still puts a lump in your throat.
- Fireworks over the U.S. Capitol — On the night of the Fourth, the whole sky goes gold and red and white, and you watch it shoulder to shoulder with women who, a few days ago, were strangers.
- The monuments that built the country — A private, air-conditioned van and a local guide to the White House, the Capitol, and the Lincoln, Jefferson, FDR, Martin Luther King Jr., WWII, and Vietnam Veterans Memorials. You’ve seen them in books your whole life — here you stand right in front of them.
- Arlington National Cemetery — A guided trolley across the hallowed grounds, and the Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, where the weight of it hits you square in the chest.
- Washington National Cathedral — Gothic arches, stained glass across the stone floor, and a quiet that gives you a little peace in a noisy world.
- An evening in Georgetown — Cobblestones, rowhouses, and a cupcake from the little bakery that started the whole craze.
- A 5-star hotel downtown — Your comfortable home base in the heart of the city for four nights, with every detail handled.
- Solo, but never for a second alone — A small group of like-minded women and your hostesses beside you the whole way. By the second morning you’re saving each other seats at breakfast; by the Fourth, it feels like you’ve known each other for years

Ready to book? We’re happy to have you!
Day One: You’ve arrived
Fly into Reagan before 4:00 PM, and someone’s already there for you: one of your hostesses, watching for you at the airport with a real smile. The ride into the city is short. The hotel is downtown, five stars, the kind of lobby where you stand a little taller walking through it. Drop your bags, splash some water on your face, put your feet up for a bit. Then dinner, all of you together for the first time. This is the part the nervous travelers dread and then love — the going around the table, the where-are-you-froms, the small relief of learning the woman across from you drove three hours to her airport this morning, same as you did. By dessert, nobody at the table is a stranger anymore.
Highlights
- Met at the airport — A hostess watching for you at Reagan, name sign in hand, so you never have to figure out a strange city alone.
- A 5-star hotel downtown — Your own room in the heart of the city, and time to put your feet up before anything begins.
- Welcome dinner together — The whole group at one table for the first time; by dessert, no one’s a stranger.
Fun fact: Washington was built to be the capital from the ground up. The city was planned in the 1790s on land carved from Maryland and Virginia, its avenues laid out so they’d open onto grand views of the Capitol and the White House.
Day Two: The monuments, up close
Breakfast first, and coffee — as much as you need. Then the van pulls up, air-conditioned and just for our group, with a local guide who knows this city inside and out. You stand outside the White House. You crane your neck at the Capitol. At Lincoln you climb far enough to read the Gettysburg Address off the wall, the way you did on a school trip a lifetime ago, except now you understand every line of it. There’s a quiet minute at the Vietnam Wall; there always is. The Jefferson, the FDR, the Martin Luther King Jr., and the WWII memorials each earn their stop. Your guide carries the history. Your hostess carries everything else, so all you do is take it in.Dinner is together again — an easy American table and the chance to compare which memorial was the one that got to you.
Highlights
- A private, guided drive — An air-conditioned van just for our group and a local guide who knows the city cold, out at every stop for a real look and not a drive-by.
- The Lincoln Memorial — Up the steps to read the Gettysburg Address off the wall, with the reflecting pool stretched out below.
- The White House and the U.S. Capitol — The two most recognized addresses in America, up close.
- The Jefferson, FDR, Martin Luther King Jr., WWII, and Vietnam Veterans Memorials — Each one worth the walk, with a quiet minute at the Wall.
- Dinner together — An easy American table and the chance to compare the memorial that got to you.
Fun fact: The Lincoln Memorial is ringed by 36 columns — one for each state in the Union at the time of Lincoln’s death in 1865.
“Seeing all the monuments I have seen in books and taught about for years as a teacher.” — Janet, Washington, D.C., July 2025
Day Three: The ones who served, and a little beauty
After breakfast you board a trolley at Arlington National Cemetery with a private guide. The grounds go further than you expect, row after row of white headstones, and the trolley gets quiet in a way that says more than talking would. You’ll see the Changing of the Guard. Bring tissues — most women do.Then the National Cathedral: Gothic arches overhead, stained glass throwing color across the stone floor, a hush you can feel in your chest. Sit a while if you want to. There’s no rush here.By evening we’re in Georgetown, on the cobblestones, past the rowhouses and the lit-up shop windows, and yes, there’s a cupcake with your name on it at the little bakery that started the whole craze. Dinner in the neighborhood, and the day lands soft.
Highlights
- Arlington National Cemetery — A private trolley across the grounds with a guide, and the Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
- Washington National Cathedral — Gothic arches, stained glass, and a quiet that stays with you.
- An evening in Georgetown — Cobblestones, rowhouses, and a cupcake from the little bakery that started it all.
- Dinner in the neighborhood — A relaxed table to close a full day.
Fun fact: Washington National Cathedral took 83 years to build, from 1907 to 1990. Among its more than 200 stained-glass windows is one holding a sliver of lunar rock carried back from the moon by the crew of Apollo 11.
“The Cathedral leaves you speechless and in awe of the construction… The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier seeing it in person hits your heart. We were able to see changing of the guard and 2 groups placing wreaths as well.” — Karin, Washington, D.C., December 2025
Day Four: The Fourth of July
The day you’ve been building toward all week. After breakfast, the Smithsonian — and here you get a say. Your hostess helps you pick the museums that pull at you: Air and Space, American History, the Portrait Gallery, whichever ones you’ve always meant to see and never have. The group splits into smaller groups by interest, everyone kept together on a running group text, so you go where you want with company the whole time. Nobody wanders off alone.
Then the National Independence Day Parade. You find your spot on the route, the bands come through, the flags come by, and for a few minutes you are part of something far bigger than any one of you. If your feet would rather stay in a cool museum a while longer, that works too — your hostess has both covered.
Dinner is the celebration: a classic American spread and a toast to the country that’s the reason you’re all in the same room. And when the light finally goes, we head out for the fireworks over the Capitol — the sky going gold and red and white, a hundred thousand strangers all looking up at the same thing, and a handful of women beside you who, a few days ago, you had never met.
Highlights
- The Smithsonian, your pick — Small groups by interest with a hostess along — Air and Space, American History, the Portrait Gallery, whichever you’ve always meant to see.
- The National Independence Day Parade — Military bands, color guards, and flags as far down the avenue as you can see.
- A celebration dinner — A classic American spread and a toast to the country you all came for.
- Fireworks over the U.S. Capitol — The whole sky gold and red and white as the light goes.
Fun fact: Every Fourth of July, the National Archives reads the Declaration of Independence aloud to the public — the original is kept there, its signatures faded by two centuries of light.
“I also felt connected as all of us loved our country as we watched our country celebrated.” — Marsha, Washington, D.C., July 2025
Day Five: Until the next one
Depart from Reagan whenever your flight leaves — no rush, no early wake-up call. Say your goodbyes over one more coffee. And if you find yourself asking your hostess when the next trip is before you’ve even left the lobby, you won’t be the first. Most women are booking the next one before they’ve unpacked from this one.
Highlights
- Depart on your own schedule — Fly out of Reagan whenever your flight leaves; no early wake-up call.
- One last coffee and goodbyes — And, for most women, the next trip is already half-planned.
Note: This itinerary is a general guide to what we’ll be doing, seeing, and eating. The final version is provided about two weeks before departure. The published itinerary is an example and may be adjusted to include accommodations, guided experiences, or restaurants of comparable quality to ensure the best experience.
