Experience Fall Colors w/ New Friends in the Superior National Forest
Day One: Arrival Day, Welcome Dinner at MOA!
Highlights
- Airport pickup from MSP
- Check in to the fabulously trendy Radison Blu at the Mall of America
- Explore the MOA, there is something for everyone, or head over to Ikea
- Meet all your wonderful Beatrice Bradley tripmates at a welcome dinner at Fire Lake

Day Two: Split Rock Lighthouse, Gooseberry Fall and Lake Superior – Gichi-Gami
Highlights
- Grab and Go Breakfast and load up and head to Duluth, MN
- Lunch in Canal Park as we watch ships pull into port and a lighthouse stroll
- Scenic drive along the shore of Lake Superior
- Stop at Gooseberry Falls for a short fall colors hike
- 2nd Lighthouse of the day – the Famous Split Rock Lighthouse
- Arrive and get checked into Ely Grand Lodge
- Easy dinner at the hotel after an action packed ROAD TRIP!
- The Boundary Waters is the largest dark sky sanctuary in the world so we head outside and do some star gazing. (OPTIONAL Glass of wine in hand)
- NOTE: The Ojibwe name for lake Superior is gichi-gami (in syllabics: ᑭᒋᑲᒥ, pronounced gitchi-gami or kitchi-gami in different dialects), meaning “great sea”. Henry Wadsworth Longfellow wrote this name as “Gitche Gumee” in the poem The Song of Hiawatha, as did Gordon Lightfoot in his song “The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald”.
Day Three: International Wolf Center, Small Mining Town History and Fall Color Pontoon Adventure
Highlights
- Early risers coffee walk around Minors Lake – a beautiful path circles the entire lake right outside the lodge front door
- Group breakfast at Northern Lights Coffeehouse
- History Museum and The International Wolf Center
- Explore Main Street – Small town shopping at it’s finest or spending extra time at the International Wolf Center
- Jump aboard 2 pontoon boats to explore all Sagawa Lake Islands stunning with fall colors, wildlife and a short hike
- Refreshments and snacks will be served as lunch
- Dinner at the Ely Steak House – home of the Bucky Burger
- Star gazing drive after dinner OPTIONAL
Day Four: Paddle in the Boundary Waters, Rootbeer and Waterfalls
Highlights
- Early risers Miners Lake walk – OPTIONAL
- Breakfast at the hotel
- Visit The Dorothy Molter Museum “The Root Beer Lady”
- Beautiful Fall Color Lake Water Fall Hike
- Paddle in the Boundary Water National Park – easy beginner paddle – the Paddle is OPTIONAL
- Picnic on Mile Island in the Boundary Waters
- Dinner at Insula, a local hot spot
- Night Star Gazing – OPTIONAL
Day Five: Stuffed Hashbrowns and Prospector Loop in Fall Colors
Highlights
- Early riser coffee walk OPTIONAL walk to breakfast
- Later breakfast at Stony Ridge Cafe – home of their famous stuffed hashbrowns
- ATV adventure day – Ely has access to 250 miles of trails through the Prospector Loop Trail System
- Picnic lunch will be served along the trail system
- Easy dinner at hotel
- Relaxing night poolside – jump in the hot tub and take a sauna
- Stargazing – OPTIONAL
Day Six: Mines and Hi-Hats Road Trip
Highlights
- Last chance to join to early riser coffee walkers around Miners Lake
- Later start group breakfast at the hotel
- Load up for our road trip adventure back to the MOA
- Stop #1 The North American Bear Center
- Stop #2 Lake Vermilion-Soudan Underground Mine State Park – Mine tour
- Stop #3 Lunch at GORDY’S HI-HAT RESTAURANT SINCE 1960 – Gordy’s Hi-Hat was opened in 1960
- Arrive back at Mall of America Radisson Blu with dinner on your own or grab a few new friends eat and explore or just relax poolside
Day Seven: Last minute MOA and Ikea exploring
Highlights
- Last minute exploring at the Mall of America and Ikea
- Breakfast is on your own
- Hosts will be at the hotel helping everyone get load up and back to the aiport
- Final good bye and until we meet again!

- Travel insurance is not included. Beatrice Bradley is not a licensed travel insurance operator nor is our staff trained to in travel insurance.
