This is an age-appropriate active trip that will include walking, hiking, and getting in and out of planes, boats, and vans. As we would like to show you as much of Alaska as we can, this trip is on the go with our longest transfer day being 4 hrs (with stops).

Day One: Arrival Day – Welcome to Alaska!

Welcome to the Last Frontier! Your adventure kicks off with a mid-day arrival at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport. Upon landing, you’ll be greeted and transported to your hotel in downtown Anchorage, where you can settle into your cozy accommodations.

After check-in, if time allows, take a leisurely stroll around downtown Anchorage. Explore charming local shops and boutiques, and perhaps pick up some unique souvenirs.

In the evening, enjoy a welcome dinner at 49th State Brewery, where you can indulge in local cuisine and craft beers while soaking in the stunning Alaskan views. After dinner, join an optional evening walk to stretch your legs, finishing with a sweet treat at Wild Scoops, a local favorite known for its inventive and delicious ice cream flavors.

For early arrivals, hosts Suzanne and Mercy will have plenty of suggestions for extra activities and must-see sights around Anchorage.

Day Two: Hike, Explore Hatcher Pass, and Head to Talkeetna!

Start your day with an invigorating morning coffee walk along Anchorage’s scenic Coastal Trail. Early risers can take in the fresh Alaskan air while enjoying views of the coastline and distant mountains.

Next, fuel up with a delightful breakfast at Fire Island Bakery, where you can indulge in freshly baked pastries, artisanal bread, and rich coffee—perfect preparation for the day’s adventure.

From there, we’ll head to Hatcher Pass, a historic and scenic area that offers a beautiful hike with breathtaking views. Afterward, enjoy a relaxing lunch at a cozy lodge nestled in the pass, surrounded by Alaska’s natural beauty.

Weather permitting, we’ll take a tour of the Independence Mine, a preserved relic of Alaska’s gold rush era. Explore the well-preserved buildings and learn about the mine’s history, taking in the stunning surroundings as you step back in time.

After the tour, we’ll embark on a scenic drive to Talkeetna, a quirky and charming town known as the gateway to Denali. Along the way, keep your eyes peeled for wildlife and enjoy the rugged Alaskan landscape. Upon arrival, check into your lodge and unwind with a delicious dinner made from local ingredients, all while enjoying spectacular views of Denali.

Next, embark on an unforgettable flightseeing tour over Denali. Soar above North America’s tallest peak and take in the awe-inspiring views from the air. As a special treat, you’ll land on a glacier, where you can step out and fully experience the majesty of the Alaskan wilderness.

After this exhilarating experience, enjoy a laid-back lunch at local food kiosks in the heart of Talkeetna. Choose from a variety of delicious local dishes and savor the flavors of this unique town.

Spend the afternoon exploring Talkeetna, wandering through its quirky shops, admiring local art, and taking in the town’s charming attractions. There’s plenty to see and discover in this small yet vibrant community.

For dinner, head to the Denali Brewing Company, where you’ll enjoy great food paired with craft beers brewed on-site. It’s the perfect spot to relax and share stories about the day’s adventures.

End the evening with an optional evening walk to soak in more of the town’s charm or simply unwind at the lodge, basking in the stunning views of Alaska’s natural beauty.

Day Four: Scenic Alyeska Adventure

Then, enjoy a delightful breakfast at Flying Squirrel, a cozy café known for its fresh pastries and rich coffee. After breakfast, we’ll head to Girdwood, taking a scenic drive with views of Alaska’s rugged coastline, towering mountains, and lush forests.

We’ll stop at Potter Marsh for a relaxing picnic lunch, where you can take in the peaceful surroundings and maybe spot some local wildlife. We’ll also pause for a photo opportunity at Beluga Point, a beautiful spot to admire the coastline and possibly see belugas swimming by.

Upon arrival at the luxurious Alyeska Lodge, you’ll settle in and then enjoy a breathtaking aerial tram ride to the top of Mount Alyeska, where you’ll have panoramic views of glaciers, mountain peaks, and lush valleys. Afterward, choose to take a gentle walk around the lodge’s scenic grounds or indulge in some downtime to relax—spa treatments are available if you’d like some extra pampering (pre-booking required).

Wrap up the day with a delicious dinner at Spoonline Bistro, a cozy spot known for its innovative dishes. After dinner, you can opt for a calming evening walk or simply relax and enjoy the mountain views from the lodge.
