Trip Highlights

STAYING IN JACKSONVILLE, OREGON AT THE MCCULLY HOUSE INN

McCully House Inn is nestled in the heart of the Jacksonville Historic District, a designated National Historical Landmark.  The home was built in 1860 by John McCully, Jacksonville’s first doctor and Justice of the Peace. The home was the first two-story building in the bustling boomtown.

Step out the front door to experience the preserved downtown filled with fine artisan craft boutiques, antique shops, and fine dining.  Downtown Jacksonville was recently rated 13th on a list of the Top 25 Cutest Main Streets in Smaller Towns by Fodor’s Travel.  Enjoy the flourishing English Gardens at the McCully House Historic Inn and neighboring historic homesteads.  Enjoy a narrated overview of Jacksonville history which highlights the gracious vintage homes and commercial buildings.

GOING TO AN OUTDOOR CONCERT AT THE OUTDOOR BRITT MUSIC FESTIVAL

Britt Music & Arts Festival, the Pacific Northwest’s premier outdoor summer performing arts festival. Located in the historic 1850s gold rush town of Jacksonville, Oregon (USA), Britt presents dozens of summer concerts, featuring world-class artists in classical music, jazz, blues, folk, bluegrass, world, pop and country music. Britt’s performance venue is a naturally formed amphitheater set among majestic ponderosa pines and native madrones on the beautiful hillside estate of 19th century photographer Peter Britt.

HIKING AT ROXY ANNE PEAK AND TABLE ROCK

Roxy Ann Peak Trail is a 4.9 mile heavily trafficked loop trail located near Medford, Oregon that features beautiful wild flowers and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round.

The Table Rocks are one of the most popular hiking locations in the Rogue Valley, with over 45,000 visitors annually.  Lower Table Rock features a long but less steep walking trail, which climbs approximately 780 feet to the top of the plateau over a distance of 1.75 miles. It has eight interpretive panels along its length, explaining the history, flora, and fauna of the region.

ATTEND THE OREGON SHAKESPEARE THEATER PRODUCTION EITHER IN THE OUTDOOR OR INDOOR THEATRES

You will have a choice of attending a Shakespeare play either in the outdoor theatre or in the indoor theatre.

America’s oldest Elizabethan theatre, Oregon Shakespeare Festival’s outdoor flagship stage that is named for a queen and the glorious age in which Shakespeare wrote, The Allen Elizabethan Theatre. Experience the sweep and majesty of those unforgettable stories of love, tragedy and spiritual transformation beneath a canopy of stars. This outdoor theatre, with orchestra and balcony seating, accommodates 1,190 patrons.  Bring a sweater or jacket in case the evening air could be chilly.

The Oregon Shakespeare Festival campus also features two indoor spaces, the Angus Bowmer Theatre (seats 601), the Thomas Theatre (seats 270-360).  You will have a choice of two productions to choose from at these beautiful theaters if you would like to be indoors for your play.  Bring a sweater as it might be cool inside due to the air conditioning.

ATTENDING THE ASHLAND CABARET DINNER THEATER

The Oregon Cabaret Theatre specializes in musicals, comedies and whodunits and has provided first-class entertainment and dining in the Rogue Valley for more than thirty-five years. A remodeled church located one block from OSF, the Cabaret’s venue oozes with the old school charm of the jazz era. The restaurant produces exceptional dishes and the dining pairs well with the Cabaret’s professional productions.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if I cannot find an arrival flight before designated arrival window?

Our trips are typically only 4-6 days in length so we really try to make the most out of our time together. The first night we host a special Welcome Dinner where you really kick off the fun and start to get acquainted. However, we understand that it is not always possible to find a flight that works. There are a few options:

1. Let our team know ASAP and its possible we can accommodate for it. In some situations there is a hotel shuttle or taxi that can be taken. However, some airports are too far from our destination for shuttle or taxi services, so it is important that you let our team know ASAP.
2. Arrive a day early

  • You will be responsible for your own transportation and hotel arrangements during that time
  • Please let our team know if you would like to stay at the same hotel and we can help arrange it

What if I can not find a departure flight before designated departure window?

Our trips are typically only 4-6 days in length so we really try to make the most out of our time together. We have scheduled tours or meals the day of departure so it is possible that if you have a flight earlier than designated departure time that you will miss part of the tour. We would recommended tying to stay an extra night. Please note that you are responsible for all ground transportation for your departure if your departure is outside of designated window.

Please call 763-784-8291 with any questions or concerns.

Packing Tips

Average temperatures in Jacksonville in June vary from a low of 48 to a high of 80 with little rainfall (though a rain jacket is a good idea).  Bring clothes for hiking and casual sightseeing and something nice to wear to the two theater events. Make sure you have shoes for hiking/walking. You may want a small backpack for hiking, but it isn’t necessary since the host will carry extra water and snacks.
